Internal Athletics Competitions

This term KATTI will be having the athletic games for all technical institutions. Jeremiah Nyagah, which stands as champions in the fields will be a participant in this year’s games as well. With that in mind, the Games and Sports coordinator Mr. Kiruja and his able deputy Mr. Gitonga and the sports coaches held the first internal competitions for athletics games on 4th February 2023. The event attracted more than 200 interested participants who were competing to join the athletic teams.

Teams selected included: Discus, javelin, high jump, shotput, walking race, long jump, 3000m race, triple jump and relays (4*100 and 4*400) for both men and women.

Students were quite excited to take part in the regional tournament, and were eager to put their best foot forward. The longest javelin throw at the trials was recorded at 42.2 m which was very impressive and the longest throw was marked at 32m for women.

Speaking to the coach, Madam Marion Kariuki, the selected team will be participating in the regional games which will be held at The Meru National Polytechnic mid-February.
