Jeremiah Nyagah Technical Institute had its first ever Cultural festival on the 1st of June 2023 and its annual Variety show on 2nd June 2023.
The event was marked with entries from students representing different cultural groups including: the Luo community, Kamba, Kalenjin, Abaluhya, Meru, Kisii, Embu and Coastal community.
The event, organized by the Dean of students’ office was marked with pomp and color as the different communities adorned their cultural gear. It kicked off with the cultural dances from the different communities and many dances were performed ranging from folk songs, songs sang at marriage ceremonies, initiation ceremonies and ended with a show case of traditional foods from the participatory communities.
The event took us back to our roots as the school also commemorated the country’s Madaraka Day.
The theme of the cultural festival was, ‘’Promoting national cohesion through cultural diversity in Jeremiah Nyagah Technical Institute’’.
The well-organized event saw the winners take off with cash prizes for both categories.
Celebrations did not end there.
On 2nd June 2023, the school had its annual variety show where students got a chance to showcase their various talents including, rap, singing, dancing, taekwondo and martial arts as well as acting. The highlight of the event was the crowning of Mr. and Miss JNTI 2023.
Dickens Jovial Kivutih, a student pursuing Electrical Engineering was crowned Mr. JNTI 2023 and Kelvin Etole from Building and Civil Engineering his First Runners up while Bancy Wanjiku, also pursuing the same course as Mr JNTI, was ranked Miss JNTI and Christine Vanessa, pursuing ICT her First runners up- talk about beauty with brains!
The event also saw the crowning of Miss Publicity, Beatrice Wangui Wamuyu for the special section of People living With Disabilities (PWDs). Beatrice is a student pursuing Hospitality.
Later on, the new students, commonly referred to as freshers, were ushered to the school with the much-awaited Fresher’s night where they danced the night away.
This is Jeremiah Nyagah Technical Institute, where students get an all-rounded educational experience.
It is never a dull moment.
